The Block apartments up for auction

South Africa's first televised property auction will be the culmination of the innovative M-Net unscripted DIY TV series, The Block, brought to you by FNB. The glitzy two-hour grand finale, ending with the revelation of The Block's most attractive apartment and the R 500 000-richer winning couple, will be broadcast during M-Net Open Time on 28th November from 17H00 to 19H00.

Pam Golding Properties, together with Auction Alliance's four leading auctioneers will enthrall and coerce the investing public to get their hands on what is probably South Africa's most well-recognised pieces of fully renovated and furnished real estate.

The four couples, Camilla McArdle (30) and Mark McArdle (33), Tamara Joubert (23) and Angus Cameron (28), Keit Gorekwang (23) and Lesiba Langa (25) and Gary-Velden Bekker (37) and Paolo Benetti-Longhini (33), who were welcomed by four numbered zinc doors, no windows, no floors and no ceilings, will vacate their apartments fully renovated, decorated and furnished on 26 November.

"The location of the Block in Lonehill, Johannesburg is the most dynamic precinct in South Africa. The demand for property in this area is and will remain very high. And is definitely the right choice for home buyers," commented Ronald Ennik, Managing Director (Gauteng): Pam Golding Properties.

According to Auction Alliance CEO Rael Levitt, "These units offer both an exciting investment opportunity and a chance to purchase a piece of South African real estate history."

The Block will host two Public Show Days on Saturday, 20 and Sunday, 21st November. The show days and auction are open to any and all potential buyers. Proactive buyers are encouraged to get to the show days early, so that they can plan their bidding strategy and final auction price.

Registration for bidding on the apartments is now open on the M-Net website at www.mnet.co.za. The criteria for registration are very simple. Potential bidders will need to get a good credit reference as well as a deposit of R10 000. The deposit is refundable should buyers decide against bidding or in the event of unsuccessful bids.

Anyone is welcome to register to bid on the apartments, so to avoid the rush at auction time, register now.

Originally conceptualized in Australia, The Block has become a globally popular show.

"M-Net is proud to have been the first to introduce South African viewers to this latest innovative genre of unscripted TV," commented Carl Fischer: M-Net Head of Local Productions.
