Durban adds three girls to VJ finalists

The nationwide Shield Teens No Sweat Music Fan Challenge has chosen three more finalists for the number one slot as top Video Jockey (VJ). These three, from Durban, join the others to determine which of them has what it takes to be the winner in December 2009.

The three finalists are Siphumelele Mbongwe, who is in Grade 11 at Eden College and her favourite song of the moment is Ego by Beyonce. Banele Msimango attends Mowat Park High School and this 16-year-old Grade 11 learner is currently mad about Jay-Z's Death of Autotune. Sholene Ramdass is a 15-year-old learner at Northlands Girls' High School who comes from Phoenix and her favourite song is Kiss Me by Sixpence None the Richer.

Judges Lupi Ngcayisa, Shaun Pearce and Vusiwe Ngcobo were extremely impressed with the third group of finalists. Lupi Ngcayisa says he was convinced the KwaZulu-Natal entrants would deliver quality performances. “I am confident that all the girls who made it to the top 12 will be gracing our television screens in the future,” he says.

The entire competition is televised on Sundays at 6.05pm on e.tv and the winner will be announced on Sunday 6 December.
