Soap stars set to thrill KZN

Franz Marx Films, producers of M-Net’s TV serial, Egoli: Place of Gold, announced on Thursday, 10 May 2007, that the soapie’s first-ever KZN Egoli Experience will take place Tuesday 15 to Saturday 19 May. Cast and crew members will be stationed at premier property development Le Domaine in Hillcrest during the week, and the public is invited to enjoy the free activities lined up on the estate as part of the celebrations.

Fans will get the chance to meet the following popular actors and actresses behind their favourite Egoli characters: the effervescent Shaleen Surtie-Richards (who plays Nenna Willemse), Michelle Pienaar (Audrey), Corine du Toit (Jane), Michelle Beling (Candy), Mandi du Plooy (Lara) Eckard Rabe (Chris), Hennie Smit (Bertie), Darryl Desmarais (Stephen), Hannes van Wyk (Krynauw), Marlon Roelfze (Shaun), Ivan Zimmermann (Koert), Anton Fisher (Spike), Izak Davel (Scab), Marcus Muller (Liam), Eduard Dreyer (Albert).

Daytime activities will include an exhibition of photographs, paintings and video broadcasts, showcasing memorable moments from the soapie, while evening festivities will range from themed Egoli dinners each night, with recipes from the popular Egoli Recipe Book, to game shows, a dance evening, makeover competitions, fashion shows and even the opportunity to be featured in a future episode of the soapie itself.

All events will be a build-up to the KZN Egoli Day scheduled for Saturday 19 May at Le Domaine. The week-long festivities at Le Domaine will be a change from previous Egoli Day/Week showcases, which have taken place in shopping centres and the like in other provinces across South Africa. Visitors will be able to be part of a brand new Egoli Experience.

Egoli Day itself will see Le Domaine’s R15 million Club De Vie recreational facility become the site of hair and make-up workshops presented by the show’s stylists. The audience will get the chance to ask for advice and be given tips by these industry pros. Elsewhere at the Le Domaine Amphitheatre, the Great Egoli Show will include the finals of an Egoli Game Show held earlier during the week, as well as the chance for the winners of KZN Egoli Experience’s ‘Hollywood and the Catwalk’ and ‘Dance with Shaun and Audrey’ events to perform on stage with the Egoli stars. A fashion show will also be held, with some lucky fans being given the chance to model with the stars in lavish outfits from the series.

In addition to prizes galore, two surprise artists will perform on stage and the event will be the perfect opportunity to get your hands on the autographs of some of the country’s best-loved stars.
