Survivor SA stats substantiate hype
Comments Oracle Airtime Sales' Peter McKenzie, "The response to the first show has been fantastic and this is reflected in the ratings. We could not have hoped for a better start!"
ARs peaked at 16.4 measured against an audience of 'Pay TV Adults' and 13.4 measured against an audience of 'High Income Adults'. In terms of viewership, 1.245 million individuals and 1.019 million adults were recorded, while an audience share of 41% was achieved amongst 'Pay TV Adults' and 35% amongst 'High Income Adults'.
The Survivor SA website has already clocked up over 400 000 page impressions for the month of September, and M-Net estimates it to be on track to achieve more than three million. The photograph and video galleries appear to be the most popular pages on the site, followed by the profiles.
The first show began with much action from the outset in the form of a near-drowning and ending with a dramatic turnaround at tribal council. The format and editing closely followed the original, while the SA contestants were quicker off the mark than their American counterparts in terms of creating alliances, strategising and forming opinions about one another.
