Enjoy birding safaris at Jaci's Lodges and Cheetah Plains

If you are more interested in the iridescent Cape glossy starling foraging behind a pride of lions than the lions themselves, these safaris are for you. They are from 23 to 26 November 2012 at Jaci's Lodges in Madikwe, and from 30 November to 3 December 2012 at Cheetah Plains in Sabi Sands.

Photographing birds

Birding specialist Martin Benade will lead the safaris. He is an enthusiastic bird photographer so the outings are suited to those wanting to take time photographing birds. By understanding bird behaviour and knowing where to search for certain species makes for better bird photographs.

Jaci's Lodges in Madikwe are in the north-western region on the Botswana border, is in vast plains of arid acacia woodland and grassland. It's very rich in wildlife and has about 350 bird species.

Cheetah Plains in Sabi Sands comprises 65 000ha and adjoins the western boundary of the Kruger National Park. The north-eastern corner offers exciting birding opportunities with summer tallies in excess of 100 species a day quite easily achievable. To date, some 400 species have been recorded in the reserve.
