North Island is runner-up in Condé Nast Traveller Readers Awards

North Island, the Seychelles resort, has been voted runner-up in the Best Overseas Leisure Hotel in the Middle East, Africa and Indian Ocean at the recent Condé Nast Traveller Readers Awards, held at the British Museum, London.

Bruce Simpson, COO of Wilderness Collection, commented: "It is a fantastic recognition of all our staff at North Island to be voted as one of the favourite hotels in the world by the discerning readers of Condé Nast Traveller. We are so proud to accept this award and look forward to welcoming both returning guests and new faces to our island paradise as well as to the other outstanding properties in the Collection portfolio."

A truly unspoilt tropical retreat

A place epitomising the term "barefoot luxury", North Island is a truly unspoilt tropical retreat 30km from the main island of Mahé. Comprising three granite outcrops with a tropical interior, the island was acquired by Wilderness Safaris in 1997 and after a comprehensive rehabilitation and conservation plan, known as the Noah's Ark Project, is now one of the most spectacular tropical retreats in the world. With 11 individually handcrafted guest villas on the island, accommodation is spacious and elegant. A lounge, dining room and library, health spa and gym, world-class dive centre and a rim-flow swimming pool are all built into a granite outcrop, and tucked away on the western beach guests will find a sunset bar and restaurant.
