In addition to its broadcasting license, the station holds a networking license, which enables it to broaden its footprint beyond the limits of the Tshwane metropolitan area.
"Our network license enables us to broadcast to a much broader audience in the North Eastern part of South Africa. Our current footprint stretches from Limpopo to the Indian Ocean," says Willie Spies, MD of Radio Pretoria.
According to the RAMS Audience Study, the average bi-monthly growth of radio during 2012 was 1%. In the corresponding period, Radio Pretoria grew its audience base by 7.5% and at the recent MTN Radio Awards, it walked away with the national award for the radio station with the most loyal listeners.
The DStv launch will be driven by a comprehensive social media campaign to inform the public and the various Afrikaans communities, including email and text messages to reach listeners in the rest of the country. The teaser campaign will be followed by an interactive on-air competition with DStv decoders and cash to be won.
