ECR and 94.2 enter Worldspace

Kwazulu Natal's East Coast Radio (ECR) and Jacaranda 94.2 will now be broadcasting on digital radio service WorldSpace - channels 26 and 25 - alongside CNN, BBC, Virgin Radio UK, and Radio France International.

Hamza Farooqui, managing director, WorldSpace South Africa, says: "With the addition of Jacaranda and East Coast Radio, WorldSpace is delivering a voice from home for South African expatriates and is providing authentic programming for the region's entire subscriber base. We are confident that the new channels will be well received by our listeners and will not only enhance our existing service, but also help us attract new listeners."

Mike Siluma, CEO of Jacaranda 94.2 (channel 25), says: "By joining the WorldSpace Satellite Radio Network, Jacaranda 94.2 will be available to our listeners whenever and virtually wherever they go in Southern Africa."

Trish Taylor, CEO of ECR (channel 26), says: "We are looking forward to delivering East Coast Radio nationally via the WorldSpace Satellite Radio Network. This is a new and exciting radio listening experience and we are pleased to be a part of it."

As the pioneer of satellite radio and digital audio radio services, WorldSpace currently offers music, global news, sports, and lifestyle and spiritual programming. Through its subscription-based service, consumers have access to more than 40 stations as well as WorldSpace-branded stations The Hop, UpCountry, UPop, and Maestro.
