WorldSpace adds Indian radio to Multichoice offering
Jhankaar, a Hindi contemporary music station and KL, a mixed Tamil music station are both 24 hour channels broadcasting directly from the heart of India.
WorldSpace Satellite Radio is the pioneer of a new way to deliver "radio" to the world. Satellite Radio powered by WorldSpace technology has become the fastest adopted new media technology in America since the DVD. WorldSpace Satellite Radio has grown to encompass original content programming in a myriad of languages as well as both national and regional sounds, in addition to one of the largest selection of brand name media content ever available via radio.
Hamza Farooqui, Managing Director of WorldSpace South Africa comments, "This exciting initiative is mutually beneficial to both parties, in that DStv subscribers are able to access world class Indian radio content, and we at WorldSpace have the opportunity to provide the same channels in a portable environment."
Multichoice Africa is a multi-channel pay television platform with channels from Africa, Europe, Asia and the USA. It provides premium television entertainment to more than one million digital subscribers in over 50 countries on the African continent and adjacent Indian Ocean islands through its DStv bouquets.
Linda Vermaas, General Manager of Content for Multichoice comments, "At Multichoice we pride ourselves in taking cognisance of the diversity of the people we serve on this continent. Our co-operation with WorldSpace allows us to enhance and add value to the existing DStv Indian offering through the addition of Jhankaar and KL. We welcome these WorldSpace channels on board."
