Tshwane becomes home of Ikwekwezi FM

SABC's Ikwekwezi FM, a flagship in the broadcaster's PBS Radio portfolio and the voice of the Ndebele people, has moved to Tshwane.

Formerly housed at the SABC's Auckland Park Broadcast centre, Ikwekwezi FM moved back to Tshwane to be closer to its listeners. "The move will further strengthen the relationship between listeners and the station,'' said Judi Nwokedi, MD: Public Broadcast Services SABC.

Ikwekwezi FM is the only Public Broadcaster for isiNdebele speaking people in South Africa, with 63% of its listenership in Mpumalanga, 21% in Limpopo and 13% in Gauteng.

An Ikwekwezi FM homecoming event will celebrate the sacred tradition of amaNdebele and honour their traditional heritage. King Mayisha III of the Ndzundza clan and King Makhosoke II of the Manala clan will be guests of honour at the Ikwekwezi Homecoming celebration.
