ICASA holds hearings for community radio licence renewal

The Independent Communications Authority of South Africa yesterday commenced with public hearings into the renewals of community radio licences. Busbuckridge Community Radio in Nelspruit was the first renewal applicant to be heard this week.

The hearings will continue today in Kimberley with Radio Teemaneng.

Campus Bay FM will be heard for its application for a four-year community sound broadcasting licence in East London. In 2000 ICASA took a decision not to grant Campus Bay FM a four-year licence. Campus Bay FM then took ICASA's decision on review and the Court ordered that the Authority re-consider their application.
