Mansfield diagnosed with leukemia
Jeremy Mansfield, the presenter of 94.7 Highveld Stereo's Rude Awakening, will not be letting his diagnosis of chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) get in his way. "I have always been a positive person and that is the way I am approaching this particular hurdle in my life. There is too much good to be done to allow something like this to get in the way," he said in a press statement yesterday, Thursday 7 May, 2009.
"This is not life-threatening, but needs to be dealt with and that is why my doctors and I have chosen to take an aggressive approach to the disease," he said, who will be starting a six-month course of chemotherapy with immediate effect.
Mansfield acknowledged that he had already implemented the lifestyle changes that this diagnosis necessitates. He has no intention to pull back on his on-air commitments, but will be managing his off-air commitments accordingly.
94.7 Highveld Stereo, and Primedia Broadcasting extend their support to Mansfield and his family during the next few months. He is wished a speedy and full recovery.
