New station manager at Good Hope FM

Brache's career with Good Hope FM began in the early 1990s, after which he moved on to senior programming and marketing positions in the local advertising and broadcasting industries.

After starting as a club and radio DJ at Good Hope FM in 1994, Brache was promoted to the position of lunchtime show producer, programme compiler and, eventually, station programmer in 1997. He was headhunted by P4 Radio in 1999 to join them as programme manager, and later as marketing manager, responsible for significantly increasing the regional station's listenership.

Brache left P4 in 2003 to start his own below-the-line advertising agency, which he ran for three years before selling it and relocating to Johannesburg. He then worked as a consultant on the “new” sound/music strategy for 5FM, before joining Inroads and then Leo Burnett advertising agencies as senior strategist.

At the beginning of 2007, he became the programming & production manager for Channel O. His implementation of radio principles to programme the music TV channel led to it becoming the most watched music channel on the DStv bouquet. Telkom Media approached him in 2008 to head up its still-to-be-launched music channels and radio bouquet.

“After compiling their business plan and strategy, the channel has still not launched a year later. So, I've decided to return to my first love, radio, and the station where it all started - Good Hope FM!” he explains.

Brache's return to the station is the realisation of one of his lifelong dreams: “I grew up in Mitchell's Plain on the Cape Flats for most of my young life and while most young boys were dreaming of singing or playing soccer, I had discovered radio, Good Hope FM in particular, and knew that one day I wanted to run that station!” he expanded.
