Lobby Lounge Coffee Bar wins excellence award

South Africans are renowned coffee lovers and, according to a recent report by Euromonitor International, discerning customers are increasingly seeking value for money when buying their favourite brew.

It's trends like this that has Hilton Durban's general manager, Mohamed Hamza, grinning from ear to ear. His hotel's Lobby Lounge Coffee Bar was awarded the 2012 Coffee Excellence Award by the Specialty Coffee Association of South Africa (SCASA), a national award, regarded as one of the highest accolades in the industry and presented only to those establishments that demonstrate a passion for service, value for money and product excellence.

The Lobby Lounge originally opened as a specialty coffee shop 15 years ago and remains committed to selling superior coffee; serving around 1 500 cups per month. "We have always believed that we serve some of the best coffee in the region and we are delighted to have this belief confirmed by the award. The Lobby Lounge Coffee Bar is the only establishment in Durban to have received this award and we are so proud of this achievement," said Hamza.
