Signal Restaurant awarded fine dining status
The awards recognise the pinnacle of South African culinary expression, with participating restaurants undergoing stringent evaluations by acclaimed independent judges, led by Tamsin Snyman, author, publisher and Academy Chair for the Africa & Indian Ocean region for The World's 50 Best Restaurants Awards. The judges were looking for excellence, creativity and restaurants that offer an exquisite culinary experience.
Cape Grace Executive Chef, Malika van Reenen, was delighted with the award saying "It is a tremendous honour to be recognised by the Platinum Card Fine Dining Programme again this year. Our cuisine takes influence and pays tribute to the traditional Cape dishes, but applied with a modern contemporary style. Our bootie-spiced springbok, with cardamon-scented sweet potato puree, almond crumble, and caramelised orange jus is typical of our style and has been an enormous hit with hotel guests".
Nedbank Head of Corporate Card Services Pamela White said about the awards: 'The awards continue to reflect the country's rising culinary spirit and serve as a catalyst in championing the enhancement of the fine dining industry and experience in South Africa. As the exclusive issuer of American Express in South Africa, we are honoured to be associated with this initiative as it not only celebrates South African restaurateurs but also promotes fine dining'.
