Times Live reports that while the Opposition to Urban Tolling Alliance (OUTA) has won the battle to prevent e-tolling on Gauteng's highways, its hefty legal expenses have left it broke, and it will launch an SMS fund raising campaign this week to raise the money needed to continue its battle.

According to Pretoria News and The Star electronic editions, the government's legal expenses - paid using taxpayers' money - have escalated to R750k a day with legal representatives appearing for the South African National Roads Agency Limited (Sanral), the Treasure and the Department of Transport.

IOL quotes Wayne Duvenhage, chairman of OUTA as saying that two senior counsel, four days in court and countless hours preparing for the court appearance to interdict e-tolling had cost the alliance R2m.
