High-school learners are edutained at college Open Day
False Bay TVET College hosted its annual Open Day over a two-day back-to-back programme during TVET Month in August.
Providing a qualitative experience, the campuses each prepared an experiential programme to give the learners a hands-on introduction to technical and vocational education and training (TVET) and career paths available in the artisan trades.
Programme introductions, exhibitions and try-a-skill activities kept the learners “edutained”.
The college hosts its Open Day as part of a month-long awareness campaign in alignment with The Department of Higher Education and Training TVET Strategy. This included a public mall exhibition and a Principals’ Breakfast ahead of the Open Day and Parent Seminar.
With the help of the college students, college visitors were educated through interactive activities and entertainment slots. Student Representative Council members and Life-orientation classes prepared entertainment pieces and ice-breakers to welcome guests and set an atmosphere.
Schools and NPO organisations with a youth development focus were invited and the college hosted approximately 1,626 learners from 33 different schools and community organisations.
False Bay TVET College offers quality, accredited, vocational, occupational and skills programmes in a range of fields whether you are looking for a post-matric or a vocational Grade 10–12 study option.
