With business leaders serving as judges in the competition, Enactus provides a forum for teams to present the results of their projects and to be evaluated accordingly. The competition allows South Africa’s best and brightest student minds to demonstrate how they tackled the socio-economic challenges their communities face and with entrepreneurial ingenuity.
The South African chapter of Enactus is geared towards producing healthy competition for this year’s nationals, with the national champion teams advancing to the Enactus World Cup to be hosted in Toronto, Canada later this year. With 27 teams totalling 3,325 students, who have participated in 112 social development projects and have volunteered 319,629 hours during 2015, the stakes are sure to be high for the teams competing.
"The 2016 Enactus National Competition will again display the enthusiasm, initiative and enterprise of motivated young people making a contribution to the South African development story. Their entrepreneurial skills on display will identify the students as young leaders, deserving the support of business as we all address the needs of society,” says John Saker, partner, Sales & Markets at KPMG, which has backed the event for many years, providing support in the form of funding, judging and mentorship.
