Poetry in Motion to raise cash to save Cape Town City Ballet

Cape Town City Ballet is presenting a new production entitled Poetry in Motion, which is a marriage of dance, music and poetry at the Artscape Theatre, Cape Town. It will run from the 6 to 15 May, 2010, and support is needed to prevent the closure of the CTCB.

Directed by South Africa's most prolific choreographers, such as Veronica Paeper and Erica Brumage, the production comprises several vignettes representing different styles, performed to the music of Vivaldi, Chopin, Brahms and Strauss. Taking inspiration from some of the greatest poetry classics, such as I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud by William Wordsworth and The Tiger by William Blake.

Support needed to avoid closure

Commenting on the highly anticipated launch of Poetry in Motion, Veronica Paeper said: “This production promises to be a feast for both the eyes and ears. Guests can look forward to seeing top local dancers, such as Megan Swart, Angela Hansford and Xola Pute perform.” She added: “Cape Town City Ballet may need to close its doors due to lack of financial support and we therefore really encourage Capetonians to support local ballet by attending this unique production.”

Tickets cost between R60 and R200 and are available at www.computicket.co.za or call + 27 (0)83 915 8000.
