"Design has broader applications than most people realise," says Kirsty Chadwick, founder and chair of e-learning design and development company The Training Room Online. "From shampoo bottles to office chairs, design is everywhere, informing and shaping just about every aspect of our lives.
"The Training Room Online decided to get involved in the Open Design Festival, a first of its kind, because we're passionate about design and its impact on everyday life. In the field of e-learning, which is our focus, good graphic design, web design, video game design and even animation all contribute to a product that meets the needs of the client and the end user."
The Training Room Online has undertaken to sponsor creative education company Formula D Interactive's exhibition at The Open Design Festival, allowing them to display their unique interactive learning projects to Cape Town's public and share them with other designers.
"We chose to sponsor Formula D Interactive in particular because, like us, they're passionate about education and using cutting edge design to make learning more effective, more immersive and more fun," says Chadwick.
The Training Room Online, which recently saw one of its in-house animations shown at The International Animation Film Market (Mifa) in France, places very high importance on design as a key component in creating courseware that meets the needs of clients and users of the learning material.
The Training Room Online (TTRO) creates innovative, cost-effective digital learning solutions. Its team is made up of talented, creative experts who analyse clients' needs and develop tailor-made programmes that satisfy their specific requirements for effective learning.
