Africa Day Concert to feature top local artists

The 14th African Renaissance Festival is presenting the Africa Day Concert at the Durban ICC Arena on 25 May 2012. Starting at 6.30pm, the concert will feature top artists, such as Zakes Bantwini, Lira, Thokozani Langa and DJ Sgqemeza of Ukhozi FM.

Lira's latest offering, Return to Love, draws together everything that Lira has worked for since she first embarked on her music career. Lira's triumph at the 2009 South African Music Awards, where she won Album Of The Year and Best Female Artist for the 2008 record, "Soul in Mind", and subsequent multi-platinum sales of her second two records and her Live in Concert - A Celebration DVD (2009) were proof enough that her heady mixture of old school soul, spiced with enough contemporary twists, had exploded with serious intent amongst her South African audience.

For Zakes Bantwini teaming up with the top producer and award-winning DJ Black Coffee brought the best out of him following their smash hit Juju. Bantwini's album - "Love, Light and Music" featured dance floor fillers such as Bum Bum and Clap Your Hands.

Unique Maskandi sound

Thokozani Langa will infuse his unique Maskandi sound to this musical celebration. Langa also known as "uSomnandi" is the winner of a SAMA award, SATMA award and string of nominations.

DJ Sgqemeza will spice up the atmosphere with groovy sounds that will keep the audience on their feet. DJ Sgqemeza has a drive-time show on Ukhozi FM.

Bookings for the Africa Day Concert are open to the public and ticket prices have been kept low to ensure as many fans as possible can enjoy the feast of music. Tickets are R80 throughout (no concessions), and are available through Computicket. Booking is now open.
