Beetlejuice is an American comedy fantasy-horror film which first opened in the US on the 1 of April 1988. With a star studded cast, the plot revolves around a recently deceased couple, Adam and Barbara (Alec Baldwin and Geena Davis), who become ghosts haunting their former home, and a loathsome, devious ghost named Beetlejuice (Michael Keaton) from the underworld who tries to permanently scare away the new inhabitants (Catherine O'Hara, Jeffrey Jones, and Winona Ryder).

Directed by Tim Burton, the film won the Academy Award for Best Makeup and three Saturn Awards: Best Horror Film, Best Makeup and Best Supporting Actress for Sylvia Sidney.

"TCM is all about great movies that deserve to be remembered. Beetlejuice is one of those movies. It is a unique Halloween comedy that stands out in many childhood memories. For those who are too young to remember the film, TCM will be delighted to introduce it to them this Halloween in both cinemas through TCM Presents and on our TCM channel" says Tal Hewitt, vice president and general manager of Turner Broadcasting Systems for Turkey, Middle East and Africa.

A free screening of Beetlejuice (1988) will be held on Thursday, 31 October at 8PM at the following Nu Metro Cinemas:

  • Hyde Park - Johannesburg
  • Montecasino - Johannesburg
  • Menlyn - Pretoria
