A hot K-Day

As you looked across to the stage, all you could see was a mass of umbrellas; people wandering about all over the show and looking down on it all were the amazing Paarl Mountains. The scene of some film set? No. This was K-day, 2011.
A hot K-Day

Not only was the scene perfect, but the bands were outstanding too. Artists such as Freshly Ground, Goldfish, La Vuvuzela, Good Luck, Arno Carstens, Danny K and many others had both the young and the old bouncing up and down and singing along. (Even if they didn't really know the words.) If you ask anyone how it was, the first thing they will tell you is that it was hot. No, seriously, it was hot! But, Kfm and Santam had anticipated this and there were water stations everywhere and someone to spray you down when it all got just too much.

Apart from there being copious amounts of water available, Spur was there to supply burgers, Ola for the ice creams and Castle for the alcoholic beverages. There were also stalls supplying biltong, pizza, temporary tattoos, hot dogs, calamari and loads of other things. There were also play areas for the children, so you could drop them off and go have a wander around or jam to one of the many bands playing.

If you plan on going next year, I recommend you take your picnic, of course, but also take water bottles, spray bottles, sunscreen, hats, sunglasses and a face cloth to wet and dab yourself down with. (It works wonders.)
