Daughtry in Cape Town and Joburg
American rockers Daughtry will be performing at the GrandWest Grand Arena, Cape Town, on Wednesday, 27 October, before heading to Joburg for a second gig on Friday, 29 October 2010 at the Coca-Cola Dome.
The band is fronted by singer-songwriter Chris Daughtry who first gained fame after being placed fourth in the 2006 American Idols competition. To date, Daughtry is the only contestant from the American show to have two consecutive albums reach number one on the charts.
The band has, so far, released two albums and has had number one hits in 20 countries around the world according to Billboard.com.
International tour
They were nominated for four Grammy Awards in 2008 and won a 2007 Top in Rock Award, three 2007 American Music Awards and a further two in 2008, a People's Choice Award, six 2007 Billboard Music Awards and two 2007 World Music Awards.
Other members of the band include lead guitarist and backing vocalist Josh Steely, rhythm guitarist and backing vocalist Brian Craddock and drummer and percussionist Robin Diaz. Since January 2007, the band has been touring and have performed throughout the US, Canada, the UK, Singapore, Australia and mainland Europe.
