Yvonne Chaka Chaka, Mafikizolo and The Soil to perform at Vodacom Durban July's The Glenlivet Jazztown
Afro-pop and soul duo Mafikizolo and the inimitable kasi-soul trio The Soil will join the Princess of Africa on the stage.
As one of the most influential musicians in Africa, Yvonne Chaka Chaka needs little introduction.
Discovered at just 19 years of age, this multiple award-winning songstress and songwriter has been at the forefront of South African popular music for 27 years and is regarded as a national icon.
The Princess of Africa is also well known for her humanitarian work and has performed for luminaries like the late President Nelson Mandela and Oprah Winfrey. She will be burning up the stage with hits like "Umqombothi", "Motherland", "Makoti" and "Every Woman needs a Man".
Theo Kgosinkwe and Nhlanhla Nciza are the talented duo behind the award-winning Mafikizolo – widely regarded among Africa’s best Afro-pop exports.
Their musical influences include kwaito and kwela and their hit track "Ndihamba Nawe" is on record as one of the most popular African songs of the 21st-century. They’re known for their vibrant stage gear that celebrates the magnificent spectrum of African culture.
Completing the stage set is the three-part acapella group The Soil from Soweto. Their infectious township style vibe – an exciting fusion of township jazz, hip-hop, Afro-soul and Afro-pop – is sure to have guests up on their feet and grooving to the beat, until DJs Sumbody and PH take over the decks.
Tickets to THE Glenlivet JazzTown marquee are available at R4,500 per person. Tickets may be booked online at Computicket.
