#MusicExchange: Ntsika
Ntsika has just released his debut solo album entitled I Write What I Dream. He will be performing on the Moses Molelekwa Stage at the Cape Town International Jazz Festival on Saturday, 30 March 2019 at 10pm. I caught up with him, last week.
When are you happiest?
When I’m on stage.
What is the most enjoyable aspect of your work?
Getting to change people’s moods instantly.
What do you think of influencers?
I like them more when they are part of life-changing campaigns.
What drives you: ego or humility?
I’d like to think of what drives me as “heightened confidence”.
Any funny moments on stage?
Forgetting my lyrics on stage and making a comic meal out of it.
It’s your round, what are you drinking?
Dry red wine.
Dream gig to do?
The Womad Festival in Spain.
What makes you stand out?
My spiritual connection with music.
Nicknames?
Fana Mayiza.
If you were not a musician, what would you do?
A superb professional soccer player.

Kulture Noir by Simphiwe Dana.
Give us some real proper slang and what it means
“As’bangeneni Majita” and it loosely translates into “it’s time; let’s show them what we are made of.”

Win a Grammy and an Oscar in the same year.
Your greatest achievement?
My debut solo album, I Write What I Dream.
What do you complain about most often?
Not singing enough, Lol. Once I start I don’t usually want to stop.
What is your fear?
Waking up one day and not being excited about taking over the world.
On stage, I tend to?
Smile a lot and laugh at my own dry jokes.
The best life lesson you have been taught?
“The will to win is not as important as the will to prepare to win.”
Where would you like to be right now?
On a world tour.
Do you do charity work and, if you do, what do you do?
Yes, I do. I conduct music workshops.
