Pascal and Pearce sign to Universal Music South Africa

Today, Dave Pearce and Pascal Ellinas announced their signing to renowned music corporation, Universal Music, with the release of a remix of Universal Music Group artist, Vassy. The DJ pair are better known as Pascal & Pearce.

Vassy, the voice behind two Billboard number ones, namely for her collaborations with both Tiësto and David Guetta, collaborated earlier this year with PLAYMEN, and as soon as the local boys heard it, they were down to lend their sound to the summer anthem. The duo are no strangers to remix work having put their take on tracks from some big names such as ‘Above and Beyond’, ‘Blasterjaxx’, ‘London Grammar’, ‘Childish Gambino’, ‘Wretch’ 32 and ‘Example’ to name but a few.

    The remix

Their focus for the remix was on the melodic side of things; changing up in their style whilst still incorporating the important melodies and integrity of the original track. They were also listening to a lot of half-tempo tracks at the time, which inspired the beat that underpins the catchy vocals.

“We tried to put as much energy into the track as we could - it was a massive opportunity for us, so we really wanted the track to stick out!” says Pascal. “So far we’ve only had a positive response, so hopefully everyone will be able to identify with the song in some way or another. We definitely think it will get people moving!”

The duo have released five studio albums together and promise to put out much more content next year for their fans through their new partnership with Universal.
