Red Bull Music Academy Weekender Satellite Events
To warm up for the festival, a photography exhibition entitled ‘Nightscapes’ will be on public display at the Kalashnikovv Gallery in Braamfontein from 25 August to 1 September. The exhibition will take viewers on a journey across Johannesburg, as seen through the lens of photographer Elsa Bleda.
Forming a part of the Weekender by day programme is a public RBMA lecture in collaboration with Hello Ambassador with RBMA alumni Culoe De Song, which will take place at the Sci-Bono Discovery Centre from 16.00-17.00.
“I'm very pleased and am looking forward to the event. I've always had great experiences with the Red Bull Music Academy, so this should be a great end to the Summer craze I'm going through right now in the north,” commented Culoe De Song.
The afro-techno DJ will take to the the RBMA couch to cover all topics music industry related. “Looking forward to sharing my life adventures on and off stage at the session. Good vibes only!” he concluded.
The last day of RBMA Weekender will be rounded off by a Link Up live Jam Session workshop aimed at exploring the art of ‘synchronised producing’ between two producers and their computers. Hosted by RBMA Alumni of 2011, Ableton Certified Trainer and Academy of Music Technology founder, Emile Hoogenhout, this event will take place at The Academy of Music Technology, 62 Goud Street, Downtown Studios from 14.00-17.00
To ensure all Cape Town fans get to experience the dub-reggae-soul-jazz-techno mash-up of Fat Freddy’s Drop, the New Zealand band will perform for one night only on 2 September at Trafalgar Park, Woodstock. Tickets are now available and can be purchased here: http://win.gs/2aA7OGV
