The Sound On Screen Music Film Festival
The Sound On Screen Music Film Festival will be held from 31 July to 2 August, 2015, at the Labia Theatre, 68 Orange Street, Cape Town, and will feature the most exciting and diverse music-themed documentaries and movies from around the world, including: rock, R&B, gypsy punk, metal, glam and shock rock, electronic, experimental, grunge, local music, Afrikaans rock and live unplugged performance.
The 2015 festival includes:
- Soaked In Bleach: An enthralling investigative documentary into the suspicious death of controversial Nirvana front man Kurt Cobain (plus live unplugged opener performances of his songs by local artists);
- Non-Stop: A look at the rise of gypsy punk's Gogol Bordello (a week before they play SA at One night in Cape Town and the Oppikoppi Festival);
- We Are Twisted F*cking Sister!: Twisted Sister's tough decade rise to stardom;
- Vann 'Piano Man' Walls - The Spirit of R&B: The 65-year career of R&B pioneer Vann 'Piano Man' Walls;
- Monsterman: The rise, fall and resurrection of Finland's Eurovision winner, Lordi;
- Stone Cold Jane Austen: Home-grown music comedy starring Rob van Vuuren, Jon Savage and featuring many local acts;
- Eccentric Eclectic: A far-out Canadian sound-and-music festival; and
- Art's Not Dead: A look at a prolific local drummer retiring from music.
