Originally from the Western Cape, Alice Phoebe Lou packed a bag and headed to Europe to perform and nurture her music wherever it took her, whether it was busking on the streets of Amsterdam or the bridges of Berlin. Ethereal with a folksy twist, Lou's music is mesmerising and her voice hypnotic. Her first EP, 'Momentum', has sold over 5000 copies. She heads back to her native South Africa to play in support of The Lumineers.
Dear Reader isn't so much a band as a one-woman show; that woman being Cherilyn McNeil, who tells her life story through her music. Formerly known as Harris Tweed (along with former musical partner Darryl Torr), Dear Reader has matured into a unique and remarkable sound in the alternative and folk-rock music scene. Dear Reader has been prolific, producing no less than four studio albums, starting with 2006's 'The Younger', then 'Replace Why With Funny' (2009), 'Idealistic Animals' (2011) and 2013's 'Rivonia', which received great reviews for its emotional and poignant take on South Africa's recent history.
A fresh face with a contagious sound, Durban's Majozi will bring his indie-folk country music to Joburg to play alongside Dear Reader and Alice Phoebe Lou. Majozi has opened for bands like Gangs of Ballet and Zebra and Giraffe, and played countless gigs around the country. His first music video, The River, received huge acclaim with over 23,000 views on YouTube already.
