Samsung cooks up R100 000 for charity

Samsung Consumer Electronics sponsored a five-course charity dinner, cooked by five international celebrity chefs, last week at the Palazzo Hotel, Monte Casino and raised R100 000 for two childrens' charities.

The chefs, brought out for the Good Food & Wine Expo, were the BBC'S Ainsley Harriot and Valentine Warner, Patrick Williams, a Caribbean cuisine devotee, UKTV Food's Reza Mahammad and Katie and Giancarlo Caldesi who run a cookery school in London and in Bray, home to the famous Michelin Starred Fat Duck.

Samsung Digital Appliance division paid for all invitee tickets and gave the proceeds of the evening to the COPES-SA Charity, a community-based non-profit organisation with a primary focus of the prevention of child abuse and neglect, and Operation Bobbi Bear, which rescues and uphold the rights of sexually abused children.
