CTCB artistic executive to teach in Prague

Keith MacKintosh, the artistic executive of Cape Town City Ballet (CTCB), has been invited to participate in the Prague International Master Classes. Daria Klimentova, a well-known prima ballerina and director of the master class series, requested that MacKintosh conducts a daily 90 minute class from 22-27 July 2013.

MacKintosh and Klimentova worked together when she danced in Cape Town City Ballet's production of The Nutcracker in December 2012. She was so impressed by his daily classes that an invitation to this event was inevitable.

MacKintosh is delighted to be part of this year's Prague faculty, which includes the likes of Darcey Bussel, former prima ballerina of The Royal Ballet, Covent Garden; Vadim Muntagirov from the English National Ballet and Jan-Erik Wikstrom from the Royal Swedish Ballet.

"I'm absolutely thrilled to have been invited and look forward to being part of such a prestigious faculty. Most of the faculty members are currently star dancers at major ballet companies in Europe. So it's quite an honour as I am a retired dancer as such!" MacKintosh commented.

As the artistic executive of Cape Town City Ballet, MacKintosh is also responsible for engaging international guest dancers for Cape Town City Ballet productions. Most recently he has contracted two leading principal dancers from The Royal Ballet, Covent Garden - Roberta Marquez and Nehemia Kish - for the company's upcoming production of The Sleeping Beauty, running at the Artscape from 10-18 August.

MacKintosh has often been invited as guest teacher with companies in Europe, which has enabled him to keep in touch with the latest developments on the international ballet front, meeting directors, choreographers and dancers, and seeing new ballets. In addition, acting as a 'roving ambassador' for Cape Town City Ballet has helped to keep the company profile alive overseas.
