Chris Rock cracks up Grand West Arena

International man of comedy, Chris Rock made his South African debut this week kicking off his “No Apologies” tour in Durban followed by his two-day stint at the Grand West Arena in Cape Town 4 and 5 June. Let it be said he met all expectations and the sold out crowd got more than heir monies worth. The man is hilarious; and if you thought there wasn't any money in telling a good joke or two you'd be sadly mistaken. Chris Rock is a rare diamond in the rough and after one and a half hours of none-stop laughter my cheeks (both butt and facial) were sore.

Good stand-up comedy is always great to get you going. The difference between Chris Rock and some other not-so-successful comedians is that he takes the piss out of the things in life we sometimes take too seriously. There's no better feeling than being able to laugh out loud at the lunacy of our day-to-day comings and goings. Chris Rock takes no prisoners and makes no apologies for telling it like it is; this is what is so bloody funny, he says the things we would never dare utter. His subjects of no affection at all were Britney “gone bad” Spears, GW, the once first lady, Blade and he even did a tap dance around his meeting Madiba - the impersonation wasn't half bad. Skinny, fat, tall, short, black or white, no ones safe from ridicule when Chris Rock comes to town.

A highly enjoyable evening all-in-all. Make sure seeing Chris Rock live is on your list of things to do before you leave this world.

PS. The opening act was just as funny!
