Tourism Destination Conference aims to elevate the Western Cape's global profile

This one-day, annual event will take place on Monday, 28 March 2011 at the Atlantic Imbizo Conference & Function Studio, Clock Tower Offices, V&A Waterfront. This year, the theme of the conference centres around Elevating our Destination's Global Profile. Western Cape Minister for Finance, Economic Development and Tourism, Alan Winde, explains: "The conference is aimed at providing a platform for the tourism industry to engage on relevant topics that could enhance our destination's competitive advantage to contribute towards industry growth. This year's topics include Global Tourism and Travel Trends, the City of Cape Town's Mega Events Strategy and Strategic Partnerships. These issues are integral to the growth of the industry and I urge all industry role players to add their valuable contribution."

Critical platforms

Cape Town Routes Unlimited CEO, Calvyn Gilfellan, adds: "Platforms such as the Cape Town and Western Cape Destination Conference are critical to ensuring that everyone in the industry is working towards a common goal: the enhancement of the Western Cape tourism industry. Industry role players and decision makers in the public and private sectors need to meet on a regular basis in order to robustly address the ever changing landscape of the Western Cape tourism industry so that we are not left behind."

Speakers on the programme include Western Cape Minister for Finance, Economic Development and Tourism, Alan Winde; Brandovation's CEO, Dr. Nikolaus Eberl; the City of Cape Town's Director: Communication, Pieter Cronje; SA Tourism's Global Manager: e-Marketing, William Price and the Tourism Enterprise Partnership's Chief Executive, Dr. Salifou Siddo.

Delivering the keynote address is National Tourism Minister, Marthinus van Schalkwyk.
