Kenya Airways to open Gaborone offices

Kenya Airways (KQ), will be opening offices in the newly developed Gaborone airport, Botswana, on the 22nd May, 2010, offering new links to the rest of the world and more connection alternatives to Johannesburg.

In addition, KQ has launched direct flights to: Gaborone, Botswana; Ndola, Zambia; Bangui, the largest city in the Central African Republic; and to Kisangani, the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Rosemary Adogo stated that this strategic expansion plan, which aims at providing the widest coverage of African destinations and linking them to key destinations in Europe, Asia and China, offers the passenger more variety and cost saving due to added transit.

New route to Muscat

A new route to Muscat opened on 5 May, with KQ flights operating on a Boeing 737-800 on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays, with KQ's main objective of linking Muscat to the rest of Africa, focusing on areas such as East Africa, South Africa, Nigeria and Ghana. Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) is central to Muscat's economy, is the country's second-largest employer and is estimated to produce about 720 000 barrels of oil per day, making it one of Africa's business hubs and an ideal destination for KQ to fly to.

Lastly, and by no means least, KQ will also be offering Premier World (business class) on its 72-seater Embraer planes, offering more choice to passengers. KQ has increased its business class configuration in order to make this product available to more of their East African passengers.
