MTV fans have voted and their favourite movies for the 2010 MTV Movie Awards, have been announced. The Hangover, The Twilight Saga: New Moon, and Avatar this year's top-nominated films. They will face heavy competition from each other and from the two mega-movies nipping at their nominated heels: The Proposal and Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.
Winner voting for the 2010 MTV Movie Awards in 12 different categories began on 12 May and closes Saturday, 5 June, with each winner in line to take home the Golden Popcorn trophy. The 2010 MTV Movie Awards will premiere live on MTV (DStv Channel 321) on Monday, 7 June at 3am and on MTV base (DStv Channel 322) on Monday, 7 June at 10pm.
Making this year's show another battle of the super fans, the hit comedy The Hangover leads with six nominations; the blockbusters The Twilight Saga: New Moon, and Avatar, are neck-and-neck with five nods each; and audience favourites The Proposal, and Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince are each up for four awards.

It's anyone's and any film's game as the MTV fans hold the destiny of the Golden Popcorn Awards in their hands. From 12 May to 5 June, viewers can go to www.mtvbase.com to vote to make winners of their favourite nominated films, movie moments and actors. Continuing its tradition for being one of the most shocking and atypical awards show on television, the 2010 MTV Movie Awards will feature three new, outrageous categories that include Global Superstar, Best Scared-As-S**t Performance, and Biggest Badass Star. For the first time ever in Movie Awards history, voting will go international as fans worldwide will be able to vote for their favourite global stars in the Global Superstar category by going to their local MTV websites.
