CSA hosts historic 4-day cricket under lights
According to Sport24, Cricket South Africa (CSA) will break historic ground when it hosts its first day/night match under first-class conditions at Senwes Park, Potchefstroom, between the North West Dragons and the Knights in a pre-season friendly.
The players will wear their normal first-class kit (white or cream) but will play with the new improved, Kookaburra Turf Pink Balls and use black sightscreens.
CSA Acting CEO Jacques Faul said that the trial match (which will not be afforded any first class status) aims to test the feasibility of first-class day/night cricket under South African climatic conditions. This, he adds, "is a result of our commitment to the International Cricket Council (ICC)." After the match, officials, coaches and captains, "will then compile an extensive, detailed report on the match and submit it to CSA. It will then be forwarded on receipt to the ICC with the feedback," Faul told Sport24.
