Modise formally leaves the Organising Committee at the end of October 2008.
“I have had a rewarding, interesting and enriching experience at the Organising Committee over the last 20 months. I am pleased that we achieved a great deal of things in the time I was with the organisation. I am returning to broadcasting and also to manage my other business interests. I am honoured to have worked with a very talented, dynamic and hard-working team at the Organising Committee, who together with our host cities are very much on track to deliver an excellent 2010 FIFA World Cup and FIFA Confederations Cup 2009. Of that I have absolutely no doubt and I wish them the very best,” said Modise.
The OC's Chief Executive Officer, Dr Danny Jordaan, said the OC respected Modise's wish to resign, adding that he had made an immense contribution to the project.
“We would like to thank Tim for the time he spent with us. He is going back to his first love, which is broadcasting, where he still has much to contribute. He is a real asset to the country and he has eloquently told the 2010 story on many platforms while he was with us. We wish him well and are convinced we will be able to continue to benefit from his experience and knowledge and work together in future in his new role,” said Dr Jordaan.
