Cobras, Diamond Eagles to contest final

South African domestic cricket had an evening like it has never experienced before when both third leg matches in the Standard Bank Pro20 semi-finals went down to a power over before the finalists were decided.

Both matches finished in a tie which resulted in a one-over shoot out. The upshot was that the Nashua Cape Cobras and the Gestetner Diamond Eagles will contest the final at Sahara Park Newlands. The Diamond Eagles have won the title twice before but the Cape Cobras have never come out on top although they have twice been the beaten finalists.

The Power Over requires each team to nominate three batsmen and one bowler with the team scoring the most runs being declared the winner.

The Diamond Eagles scored 16 runs in their power over and the Chevrolet Warriors only managed five in their reply as Jandre Coetzee tied them down.

The Dolpins lost two wickets quickly which meant that the Cobras needed only four runs to win. Graeme Smith was run out at the non-strikers' wicket but Herschelle Gibbs hit a boundary to seal the victory.
