Mood enhancing setting
The sophisticated industrial-chic setting is one that you will admire. Walking into the restaurant you can’t help but notice the combination of rustic colours, floor-to-ceiling windows and a dash of white and blue. To set the mood they have a remarkable view of the bay which you’ll sit in awe of when the sun starts to set – a grand view that you’ll be able to appreciate if seated around the corner from the bar.
Having experienced some of the Kove Collection restaurant’s (Bungalow Pepenero and Zenzero) top service, there is a standard that the Kove Collection has managed to upkeep throughout the company. We received excellent service which is one of my many reasons to visit Dalliance.
The tantalising tapas menu is one where each dish offers a unique masterpiece of flavour. I’m not one to visit a restaurant with a tapas menu often, but this experience really has changed my view. The dishes are a good size for diners to share comfortably and enjoy a variety of flavours.
Between three of us, we ordered six dishes: the crayfish linguine (with garlic and cherry tomatoes), lamb curry (with raita, salsa and naan bread), half baby chicken (with tikka and coleslaw), two portions of beef short ribs (with mushroom duxelles and bone marrow gratin) and the sirloin (with truffle butter and duck fat fries). These meals were chosen with the assistance of the general manager who recommended the dishes most favoured by customers.
My favourite dish was the crayfish linguine with a combination of succulent crayfish, garlic sauce and tender pasta. Have you ever experienced a moment at a restaurant when you’re chatting and suddenly the taste of the food produces a moment of complete silence? Well, this was one of those moments, as we experienced an explosion of flavour.
Finally, to top the afternoon off, we watched the beautiful sunset – the way the sun can only set in Cape Town, while enjoying the chilled music. It was a picture perfect evening and an enjoyable experience. We had to try the baked cheese cake, which is one of my favourite desserts. This one flaunted delivious flavours with pineapple ice cream and crispy pineapple pieces, and of course some added caffeine.
Dalliance provides a setting for relaxation, socialising, dining and celebrating special occasions. Having experienced the culinary magic, trendy décor, chilled music and remarkable service from the moment we walked into the restaurant, this was a show-stopping experience. I have no doubt that this restaurant will only bring amazing value to the Kove Collection.
