New venue for The Shiraz Showcase

The annual Shiraz Showcase will be held on 21 June, 2016, at the CTICC, Cape Town. This will be the first opportunity for consumers to sample the winning 12 Shiraz' and three Shiraz blends that were crowned on 18 May at the Shiraz SA Challenge awards ceremony in Paarl.

“And wine lovers and Shiraz fans are not the only ones excited about sampling the cream of the crop,” said Edmund Terblanche, chairman of Shiraz SA. “Every year we spot restaurateurs, sommeliers, fellow producers, the trade and students enthusiastically working their way through the winners, the finalists and the myriad brands present at the show.”

New venue for The Shiraz Showcase

Sponsored by Juvenal Cork SA in conjunction with French Tonnellerie Berthomieu Ermitage, this will be the eighth Shiraz Showcase. Previously presented at the Vineyard Hotel in Claremont the organisers decided last year to move the showcase back to the Cape Town International Convention Centre, which is not only easily accessible but also with ample and safe parking.

Tickets are priced at R120 each and cover entry to the tasting where more than a 100 examples of South African Shiraz and Shiraz blends will be available to taste. A stylish glass and a brochure with all the relevant wine information are included. Groups of 10 or more qualify for a discount.

Tickets

Web Tickets will handle ticket sales prior to the event from its website or tickets can be purchased at Cape Town Tourism; however a box office will also operate at the entrance. Go to www.webtickets.co.za or call Web Tickets on 086 111 0005.

The show runs from 6pm to 9pm and a delicious array of snacks and dishes that compliment Shiraz will be on sale for those wishing to pop in at the tasting straight from work.

Cyber Cellar, the official retail partner of the Shiraz Challenge, will have a stand at the show. Cyber Cellar is currently marketing and selling the 12 winning wines in two price brackets – premium and great value.

Every year, after the judging has been completed and the results calculated, Shiraz SA donates the remaining wines to The Pebbles Project, its official social responsibility project. Pebbles will be at the event to showcase the projects it manages with the proceeds obtained from auctioning and selling these wines.
