The internationally acclaimed designer, whose diverse work ranges from ready-to-wear items to bespoke wedding dresses, has showcased in venues worldwide including La Ferme du Buisson in Paris and Museum fur Angewandte Kunst in Frankfurt, Germany, and locally has won numerous awards. In 2010, Fassler received the AFI Fashion Award for Exceptional Contribution to Fashion in Africa and, earlier this year, a Marianne Fassler garment was nominated as Design Indaba's Most Beautiful Object in SA.
"We are delighted to welcome yet another revered designer to the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Cape Town 2014 line-up. Marianne Fassler is highly respected in the South African fashion industry, having greatly contributed to its expansion and evolution over the past two decades," said Sizwe Nzimande, spokesman for organiser and Africa Fashion International.
At MBFWCT 2014, Fassler will join 26 other leading established and emerging local designers, who will showcase over three days in 15 shows at the CTICC, which will also play host to AFI's other industry initiatives such as the AFI FashionTalks seminar, which will include the SA premier of international documentary Advanced Style, as well as the AFI Fastrack and AFI Next Generation designer incubation and support programmes.
