Gok Wan to appear at Cosmopolitan's first Make Me Conference
Wan will be joined by a line-up of industry experts, including supermodel manager Marlon, whose clients include Victoria's Secret superstar Candice Swanepoel, Dominique Piek and Genevieve Morton. The Make Me Conference, in association with Edgars, ghd and Revlon SA, aims to give aspiring models and stylists valuable insight into the fashion world.
An opportunity for aspiring models and stylists
"The Make Me Conference builds on our Make Me a Model/Make Me a Stylist campaign, which we launched in the magazine almost a year ago," said Cathy Lund, editor of Cosmopolitan. "The idea was to create an opportunity for aspiring models and stylists to live their fashion dream. The day-long Make Me Conference will be the perfect learning and networking event for anyone who wants to know what it takes to make it in the glamorous world of fashion.
"In addition to Gok Wan and Marlon, the speakers also include international model sensation Candice Boucher and photographer Josie Borain, who'll share their insider secrets. It's hard to select individual speakers to highlight as each is a specialist in his or her own right," added Lund.
The list of speakers and panellists also includes:
- Deon Redman, creative producer: Redman has produced various Fashion Week Shows in Paris, Milan, London, New York and South Africa;
- Jemma Grobbelaar: Grobbelaar is one of the first "curvy" girls to model for American Apparel. She's also modelled for Anna Scholtz, Zandra Rhodes, GHD New Look and NKD;
- Poppy Evans, Cosmopolitan's fashion director;
- Bev Nates, Cosmopolitan's fashion editor;
- Bruno Zolezzi, owner of Infidels creative agency;
- Funeka Ngwevela, fashion blogger at Thequirkystylista.blogspot.com;
- Robynne Kahn, fashion consultant;
- Natalia Keet, stylist; and
- Bee Diamondhead, stylist
