R Kelly to play SA in 2014

R&B crooner R Kelly, born Robert Sylvester Kelly, is coming to South Africa to perform in two concerts, on 21 March at Soweto's Orlando Stadium and 23 March, 2014, at Durban's Moses Mabhida Stadium.

"We expect these two concerts to be sold out as R Kelly has so many fans in this country. He is an artist of high calibre and he never fails to entertain fans once he is on stage. We are bringing him to South Africa to quench the music thirst of many of his fans in this country. He has a captive audience that we are sure will be too happy to attend any of his two concerts in the country. We encourage fans to buy tickets early to avoid disappointment as we expect the two concerts to be sold out. Tickets will be available at Computicket outlets throughout the country from 25 January, 2014," said Sabata Lechema from Afropulse Entertainments, the promoter of the R Kelly's Single Ladies Tour.

In an era of declining song-writing skills and auto-tune crooning, R Kelly embodies the best traditions of American music as a vocalist, songwriter and producer. Despite selling millions of recordings and writing classic songs for himself and many others, this Chicago-based singer-songwriter continues to push his art forward with Write Me Back, a 12-song collection that is part of his "2012 - The Year of the R".

Along with his new album, R Kelly is publishing his first memoir, Soulacoaster: The Diary of Me, and signed with the IFC Channel to add chapters to his hip hop opera Trapped in the Closet.
