The competition is a partnership between lead sponsor Sanlam, organisers LitNet and media partner MK (DStv channel 324), and this year involves six top local artists or bands who will do the first round of judging and compose songs from their chosen lyrics.

Entries can be submitted via www.facebook.com/singit.co.za or www.singit.co.za, or by SMSing your lyrics to 45964. The closing date for entries is 21 December, 2012.
All approved entries will be published on LitNet
Each band/artist will choose their favourite lyric from the pool of submissions, and compose and record a song from it. Five of these chosen lyrics will wins R5000 cash
All six songs will be made available for the public to download via Facebook
The song with the most votes becomes the overall winner and the lyric writer wins R50000
The winning song will also be produced into a music video and the winner will have the opportunity of featuring in it.
