The Local Organising Committee (AFCON 2013 LOC) has invited bids from cities wishing to host AFCON 2013 matches. Eight cities responded positively and made their presentations on 26 March. An evaluation and assessment of the bids was done by the LOC evaluation team and ranked them. The recommendations from the LOC were then sent to Cabinet for consideration.
The Cabinet met on Wednesday, 18 April and decided that an inter-ministerial committee should be formed to further engage AFCON 2013 LOC on all matters pertaining to government guarantees and related matters.
The AFCON 2013 LOC supports this process as it is a clear indication and commitment of government to ensure the successful hosting of AFCON 2013.
