A taste of Brazil at the Shimmy Beach Club

As the tournament is officially opened and host nation Brazil squares off against Croatia, Shimmy will mark the occasion with its own colourful, Brazilian themed party that will magically transport guests across the Atlantic to the Itaquera Stadium in Sao Paulo.

"Shimmy is planning to bring all the World Cup action to Cape Town. We look forward to reigniting the sporting spirit that South Africans felt as host nation back in 2010," said Shimmy Beach Club's GM, Shaun Novitzkas.

Featuring a live screening of the event, Samba and Capoeira dancers, DJs, complimentary canapés and cocktails, and exciting surprise giveaways in the Shimmy Lounge, the Shimmy World Cup Opening Ceremony Party is set to be a captivating Latin-American festival of football.

World Cup screenings

Following the Opening Ceremony, for the duration of the tournament, Shimmy will host World Cup screenings, with DJs and live entertainment to keep the action going, as well as food and beverage specials.

The carnival atmosphere will remain at Shimmy until the Closing Ceremony and final match on Sunday, 13 July, when Shimmy will celebrate The Beautiful Game as well as the countries represented by the final two teams with a closing party and live screening.
