Countdown begins to the Mad Decent Block Party

The countdown to the Olmeca Tequila Mad Decent Block Party on 8 and 9 February has begun and partygoers will soon be dancing in their city streets to world-famous electronic DJ acts Major Lazer, Dillon Francis and Flosstradamus as well as a host of local artists.

Professional twerkers, dancers, a dunk tank, water guns, C02 cannons, a human hamster ball, champagne showers and a state of the art D&B sound rig are all to be expected from this fully loaded international live show. Partygoers are encouraged to dress up, bring their own water guns, super soakers and inflatable toys to the events.

At both shows there will be a street food with a South African twist on offer, including shisa nyama, boerie rolls and tacos. Expect fully stocked bars overflowing with ice-cold Olmeca Tequila and look out for other mixers and specials.

Unofficial warm-up party

In Jozi there will be an unofficial warm-up party hosted at Great Dane in Braamfontein on Thursday, 6 February to get people in the mood for the main event, which takes place at Mary Fitzgerald Square in Newtown on Saturday, 8 February at 4.30pm. There is parking at Oriental Plaza (for R20 per car) with a secure walk to and from the venue.

The Cape Town show, held at Dias Parking Lot on the Foreshore, opens gates at 2pm on Sunday, 9 February. To beat the summertime here, there will be sprinklers systems and a dunk tank for people to cool down with.

The block party has also teamed up with Cold Turkey, widely known for hosting popular parties every second Sunday in Green Point. Cold Turkey will be running a second stage at the Mad Decent Block Party in Cape Town with a line-up showcasing their talented DJs.

The Mother City's official after party will be hosted at Fiction in Long Street from 11pm, with DJs PH Fat, Leechi, RVWR and Blotchy playing. Entry is free for all people wearing an Olmeca Tequila Mad Decent Block Party wristband and R30 for anyone else.
