It also raises much-needed funds for charities that protect, care for, rehabilitate and support women and children affected by abuse. This year's the beneficiaries are Women and Men against Child Abuse (WMACA) and Sonke Gender Justice Network.

Zelda la Grange has been appointed as the chief patron of Sisters with Blisters. Having worked in the office of President Mandela, she is currently the executive personal assistant for Madiba at the Nelson Mandela Foundation.
The event has grown from just over 400 participants in 2006 to just under 5000 in 2010. With the continued support from individuals and companies, 2011 promises to be even bigger and better than before.
