Worx Group, a Johannesburg-based marketing and events agency, believes that as much as 2020 will stand out because of the Covid-19 pandemic, it will be remembered equally for the incredible acts of human kindness and generosity that South Africans have shown through this difficult time.
“CSI and outreach programs have always been a part of our make-up at Worx Group”, says Worx Group MD Jessica MacRoberts. In the past Worx Group has focused primarily on enterprise development
and vocational training initiatives
. With the severe economic impact of the pandemic and resultant shutdown, MacRoberts and her team have been inspired by the spirit of ubuntu and have refocused their efforts to support a wider range of worthy beneficiaries.
“There is no doubt that the pandemic has had a disastrous effect on the events industry, but we know that many people, across many sectors, are suffering”, says MacRoberts. “We are therefore pinpointing a number of different causes within three areas – health, community and SMMEs.”
Worx Group’s ‘Pay it Forward’ initiative was launched on 1 May, in terms of which for every new Worx Group project confirmed from 1 May 2020, a portion of the revenue from the overall project budget will be donated to support a worthy cause.
“We look forward to exploring opportunities with our clients to make a difference in the lives of others negatively impacted by Covid-19.”
